Lower Rock Creek Weed Control District (LRCWCD)

The Lower Rock Creek Weed Control District has been helping control weeds on Rock Creek for over 20 years.

The LRCWCD helps educate landowners and residents on Rock Creek so they can identify noxious weeds; understand their impact; and, know their legal responsibility to control their noxious weeds.  Options for control include:

  • Hand pulling

  • Biological controls (e.g. weevils)

  • Chemical spraying (e.g. Milestone)

  • Prevention (e.g. soil improvement through fertilizing)

The LRCWCD works to obtain weed control grants, and then distribute grant funds to participating landowners and residents.  For instance, matching 50% of fertilizing, spraying, or biocontrol for noxious weed control (presuming grant funds were available that year).  When grant money is available, the LRCWCD contacts landowners and residents to let them know.

It also connects residents with competent commercial applicators.  In addition, the LRCWCD owns weed spraying equipment that is available for residents use.
